Thank you for your interest in dog who needs a new home. Adoption can be one of the most fulfilling experiences in your life and especially in the life of your new canine companion.
A note to those looking at CPR. We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone. Our job is to find those someone's. Our most successful adopters come to CPR not because they want a dog. They come to us because they want to give a dog a home. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture. While we like to know what you like in looks, a dog is more than a pretty face. Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home. We want to create furever families.
Our descriptions contain all that we know about this dog today. We'll update as more information is known.
Are you looking to adopt within the next 30 days? If so please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and complete the application. You'll find it in the menu on the left hand side. You'll also find a total listing of all our dogs available.

NOT IN VPDate into Rescue: 07/17/2024
Reason for being in rescue: surrendered by breeder
Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC
Special Needs? Wallie is neutered, up to date on vaccines and heartworm negative. On 7/24/24 Wallie had a dental and lost 4 teeth.
Weight: 8 lbs
Height: 12 in
Spayed/Neutered: Yes
Adoption Fee: $349
Fence needed? No, but a fence is a great safety feature for any dog.
What kind of home would be best for me? Calm little Wallie is an indoor only dog. He wants to be left out to do his business and then it's directly back into the house, preferably on the couch next to you or you in your favorite chair, and Wallie in his favorite spot, in your lap. He also enjoys being held in your arms. If you don't let him back in after he's done, his caregivers noted he will literally scratch at the door for hours until let back in. This is the life Wallie is looking for, a loving adopter in a calm relaxing environment. Wallie would be an ideal dog for a retiree. Currently he does better with women than men. We will continue to monitor him and see if he warms to men. Wallie would do well with a single adopter, a couple, or family, provided they are home with him most of the day. He would not do well with children under 12 years old. Wallie would not mind being an only dog, but he would be ok with another calm dog in your home as long as it is a female.
What is my personality like? If Wallie were human, he'd have his sunglasses on and be chilling in his hammock. Of course, his hammock would be inside your house. Wallie was retired by his breeder into rescue. His stud days are over and now it's time to be a pet!
Wallie's not big on playing yet. We doubt he's had much exposure to toys. Exercise isn't a favorite of his either. We can't blame him - it's been really hot in South Carolina this summer! He needs taught his basic commands like sit, stay, come, down, and the like. Wallie will also need to be leash trained. Reward him with praise and treats and he should do well, just be sure he has his time to chill alongside you every day.
If you are looking for a trouble-free companion that wants to be at your side at all times, lovely little Wallie is your guy. At 5 years young, we can't wait to see Wallie's full personality emerge as he gets comfortable in his forever home. He's sure to bring a smile to your face!
How do I act when I first meet new people? Hi buddy, let's chill. You get my treats, turn on the TV, and make a nice warm spot in your lap for me and we'll be all set. Wake me if you need me.
Other tips and tidbits: Wallie's birthday is 04/10/2019.
House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule if a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.
Please note - we do not ship dogs. If you are interested in adopting, please take a look at the distance between the foster home location and your location and make sure you are willing to make that trip. Most of our dogs are at our farm in Pacolet, South Carolina.
To apply, please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and visit the tab on the left that directions you to the online application.
Please note that when screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, color, age, etc. Others here may be a better fit for you. It is very difficult to get to know a living animal from a picture and a short description. Since we are constantly getting in new dogs, this may be a dog not in our listings yet. We want you to be very happy with your new companion and will make suggestions based on what you tell us about you.
Thank you for considering CPR.
